MultiLeague Constitution
I. FEES
The entry fee is $50.
II. KEEPERS
From one MultiLeague season to the next, each team can protect up to six players for next year's MultiLeague. That's six total, across the three sports, split any way an owner chooses. The keepers will be declared by August 1st.
The only time a player cannot be protected is if he was PreDrafted or protected heading into the previous season. This includes if he was protected by any team- Trading a protected player during the season does not change that player's keepable status.
We will keep track of a list of the protected players from the previous season for future reference.
Special baseball keeper rules: At any time, you can drop or trade away a next-season baseball keeper. But if you do, you immediately lose the privilege of having that player as a keeper, so you now have five keepers heading into the next season. There is one exception to this rule: If one of your players is out for the season for any reason, you can drop them, but still maintain them as one of your keepers going into the next season (rather than force you to use up one of your bench spots for that player). Confirm this with the commish before doing so. Also, the fact they they are a keeper doesn't transfer to
another team- You can't give someone a 7th keeper by trading them your baseball keeper.
For the individual seasons, if something changed and you do not wish to keep one of your keepers for any reason, you can drop them up to a week before the individual draft, and then they'll be draftable by anyone in the normal draft (including yourself).
III. EXPANSION DRAFT
After keepers are set, any new expansion owners can draft a set of six keepers off the list of players that could have been kept by returning owners but were not. These keepers are treated the same as returning owners' keepers going forwards.
IV. DRAFT ORDER DRAFT
To determine the draft order in the four drafts during the MultiLeague season (PreDraft, NFL, NBA and MLB), we will hold a Draft Order Draft in which league participants draft slots in the upcoming drafts. For example, the first choice in the Draft Order Draft could be "I want to pick first in the NFL draft", or "I want to pick third in the PreDraft draft". The order of the Draft Order Draft will be the based off of the current season's combined MultiLeague standings of NBA, NFL, and MLB standings (MLB will be as of the All Star Break, which is around mid-July), and will be in the following order:
4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 3, 2, 1 (Note that the order is 12, 11, 10... 1 until the 2025-26 season begins)
Any expansion owners will pick at the top of the Draft Order Draft, in the inverse order of the expansion draft.
V. PREDRAFT
Once the Draft Order Draft is completed, we will begin the PreDraft. This will be a six-round 'snake' draft in which teams can pick players from any of the three sports for their MultiLeague teams. The only players ineligible to be drafted in the PreDraft are those that were marked as keepers for the upcoming MultiLeague season.
When the drafts for each of the individual leagues takes place, players in that league that were selected in the PreDraft will not be available to be chosen during the draft, and those players will be added to the appropriate teams when the draft concludes. Teams with PreDraft players cannot have extra players on their roster- They will simply draft their PreDrafted players during the final rounds of the draft.
VI. MULTILEAGUE ROSTERS
Each MultiLeague team (MLT) can have on it players from all three sports.
When the MultiLeague season starts, each MLT will have on it the PreDrafted players only. When the NFL draft completes, the team's roster will also include the NFL players drafted by that team. The same goes for NBA and MLB. The maximum roster size of an MLT is the sum of the maximum roster size of the individual three sports.
VII. INDIVIDUAL SPORT ROSTERS
NFL - Active: 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 RB/WR, 1 TE, 1 FLEX (QB/RB/WR/TE), and 1 DT. A team's total roster has 15 players.
NBA - Active: PG, SG, G, SF, PF, F, C, C, UT. A team's total roster has 13 players.
MLB - Active: C, 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, OF, OF, OF, DH, 9 P (Any combination of SP and RP as you see fit). A team's total roster has 23 players.
VIII. INDIVIDUAL LEAGUE DRAFTS
League drafts will be held online through whichever fantasy sports provider seems to best suit us each season.
IX. SCORING
The winner of the MultiLeague will score the most MultiLeague Points across all three leagues. MultiLeague points are awarded based on the number of teams, and where you finish in the standings. Finishing 1st in an 8-team league gives you 8 points. Finishing 2nd in an 8-team league gives you 7 points. And so on down, to 1 point for last place.
Each individual league will be run rotisserie-style. In the NBA and MLB, this is self-explanatory. In the NFL, Yahoo offers a points-only league, where you simply accumulate points throughout the season, highest point total is the winner. Note that this is not traditional rotisserie, in that you not ranked in individual categories, it is simply total points scored across all weeks.
NFL scoring:
For QB, RB, WR, TE
20 yards passing: 1 point
10 yards receiving: 1 point
10 yards rushing: 1 point
Each Reception: 1 point
Passing TD: 4 points
Rushing TD: 6 points
Receiving TD: 6 points
Punt or Kick Return TD: 6 points
Fumbles: -2 points
Interceptions: -2 points
2-point conversions: 2 points, be they passes, rushes, or receptions
For DEFENSE
Fumble recovery: 2 points
Interception: 2 points
Sack: 1 point
Safety: 4 points
Return TD ** : 6 points
Shutout: 10 points
2-6 points allowed: 7 points
7-13 points allowed: 4 point
14-21 points allowed: 1 points
22-27 points allowed: 0 points
28-34 points allowed: -1 points
35+ points allowed: -4 points
Note: A team cannot intentionally bench a player to potentially avoid negative scoring.
** Kickoff/punt return TDs do not count for defensive teams. For oddball touchdowns (such as punt block returns, etc.), the deciding factor will simply be whether or not the league's website gives the points.
NBA scoring:
Rotisserie categories include FG%, FT%, 3PT, PTS, RBS, AST, STL, BLK
MLB scoring:
Rotisserie categories include AVG, R, HR, RBI, SB, W, SV, K, ERA, WHIP
Each team needs a minimum of 1,000 innings pitched in order to qualify for ERA and WHIP. If the minimum level is not achieved, the team will receive 1 standings point in those categories no matter where they finish. Every other team that meets the minimum requirements will receive their normal standings points (they will not "jump up" in the standings).
X: TIES
If there is a tie at the end of an individual season, then the MultiLeague Points will be averaged and awarded to both teams.
If there is a tie for total MultiLeague points, then the individual league scores will be scaled equally, and the tied teams' scaled scores will be added up to determine the winner.
XI. PRIZE MONEY
The winner of each individual season gets $50; 2nd gets $25. There are no single-league tiebreakers- Ties mean the prize money is split.
With 10 teams:
The winner of the MultiLeague gets $200, 2nd gets $75
With 12 teams:
The winner of the MultiLeague gets $225, 2nd gets $100, 3rd gets $50.
For MultiLeague tiebreakers, see section X: TIES.
XII. TRADES
Trades are permitted throughout the MultiLeague season involving any players currently on your MultiLeague team. The only exception is that you cannot trade a player who is actively in the last month of his league's regular season. So if a season ends on January 3rd, then the last trade for active players in that league would be December 3rd. They can be traded after the season for keeper considerations, however.
XIII. FREE AGENTS
TBD, though we will lean towards once-a-week waivers if possible
XIV. LEAGUE CANCELLATIONS
We're going to protect and PreDraft players as normal. If we reach baseball season, and there was no NBA or NFL season, then we'll convert the keepers/predrafted players to baseball keepers/predrafted players. First, players can convert keepers to MLB keepers. Note that it's possible one of your MLB keepables was actually PreDrafted by another team, in which case they are no longer an option for you to choose as a keeper. Also note that if an expansion team took any NFL or NBA players in the expansion draft, they'll be able to take MLB players off of other rosters instead once everyone's selected their new MLB keepers. Once the keepers have been updated, we'll have an MLB-only PreDraft, drafted in the order that people took NFL and NBA players in the original PreDraft.
So you'll end up with 12 total keepers/PreDrafted players one way or another.
If there's no NFL or NBA season, then going into the following MultiLeague season, your list of potential keepers will revert to whatever it was at the end of the previous season.
If there's no MLB season, we'll figure out what to do when that happens.
XV. THE "GAME-TIME DECISIONS SUCK MY LEFT NUT" RULE
If an NFL player has been announced by his coach/team as a "game-time decision", a team may invoke the Game-Time Decision Rule. Please note that simply being listed as "Questionable" or "Probable" on the official injury report is not sufficient.
The team must e-mail the league commisioner (or a second party within
the league if the commissioner is invoking the rule) with the
following information:
The "game-time decision" player involved
The source (weblink) that indicates the player is a "game-time decision"
The player the team would start in his place if he were to not play that week
If the "game-time decision" player plays in that week's game (even for one play, even if he doesn't touch the ball, etc.), nothing happens, points are accumulated normally. If the "game-time decision" player doesn't play at all, and all parties agree that the player was in fact a "game-time decision", the team can retroactively replace the "game-time decision" player with the substitute player previously
requested.
XVI. THE "PREGAME WARMUP INJURIES SUCK MY RIGHT NUT" RULE
If a player on an active fantasy roster is declared inactive for that weekend's game, and the team's owner has a potential substitute on an NFL team whose game has not started yet, he may substitute in the other player by emailing the league commissioner. Note this email *must* be sent before the replacement player's game has started for the weekend.
The team must e-mail the league commisioner (or a second party within the league if the commisioner is invoking the rule) with the following information:
The inactive player being substituted for
The player the team will start in his place
Each decision can be reversed after the fact, if a majority of league members vote that this rule was wrongly implemented or abused.
XVII. THE "BAD LUCK" RULE
If a PreDrafted player is declared out for most or all of the next season before the individual league draft for that league, you may replace that player with anyone in that same sport that wasn’t kept or PreDrafted (they are then treated like a PreDrafted player). NFL players must be replaced at the same position. MLB hitters must be replaced with hitters; pitchers with pitchers. NBA players may be replaced by anyone.
If a keeper is declared out for most or all of the next season before the individual league draft for that league, you may replace that player with anyone in the same sport that you could’ve otherwise kept but didn’t (they are then treated like a kept player). There are no positional requirements for this; it simply must be a player you otherwise could've kept.
If a PreDrafted or kept player was traded before the injury occurred, then the new owner is entitled to the same rights.
The injured player is available in the draft for anyone to take (if they want to carry an injured player on their bench all season for future keeper purposes).
No owner may PreDraft or keep a player that this rule would apply to at the time they were PreDrafted or kept (no drafting a currently injured player in hopes of a miracle cure, who you can simply replace whenever).
